Metronor DUO Probe

Metronor DUO Probe offers the highest measurement accuracy and the widest range of applications, by using two separate cameras at the same time.

With this portable measurement system it is possible to take probing points in a large measurement volume as well as to track any number of individual targets – e.g. to track multiple targets relative to each other, or to determine the deformation of structures.

The system can also be operated as a SOLO Probe system by simply unplugging one of the cameras. Accuracy, versatility and portability address all your geometry-related issues.

What you can do with this system

Metronor DUO Probe provides high-end coordinate measuring capability anywhere in the production process:

  • Use the handheld probe to provide CMM capability – measure features such as holes, slots and edges as well as surfaces.
  • Perform a GD&T analysis – or compare to CAD in real-time.
  • Compare tools, parts and assemblies to CAD
  • Efficiently align objects in position and orientation (6 DOF), for example in tool building or jig-less assembly.
  • Highest accuracy
  • Widest range of applications, including deformation and multiple object tracking
  • Unique capabilities like SwitchMode, deformation monitoring, tracking of objects in all 6 degrees of freedom and process repeatability testing

Switch Mode is a special mode also called Camera Flex mode. It allows the DUO to switch off one of the two cameras momentarily without loosing the DUO set up itself. Advantages of this mode is to enlarge the general measurement area and get access to areas that aren’t visible to the two cameras simultaneously.

It is possible to maximize your return-on-investment by upgrading your system into a Metronor DUO Split.

This DUO Probe extension makes your DUO system into the most flexible measurement solution in the market. DUO Split essentially turns a high-accuracy DUO Probe into a system that can be split into two independent SOLOs.

For normal tasks, the two SOLOs provide high measurement capacity. When particularly challenging or tight-tolerance inspection is required, DUO operation ensures all requirements are met.

It is also possible to add scanning capabilities to any Metronor DUO Probe system

Extra Options:

Other interesting options to consider if you’d like to extend your system’s applications:

  • Camera Battery Kit (114856) – measure without mains power
  • Extended Probe Kit (116204) – measure very deeply recessed areas or very hard-to-get-to details
  • LP53, LP55 and other small Lightpens for easier measurement in confined areas

Camera Battery Kit (114834)
Provides camera power for up to 10 hours, enabling system operation without mains power – practical where mains is not available, or to reposition the system even faster. Includes a 44Wh Li-Ion battery (115150), a cable to connect the battery to an interface unit IU2 (for use with Metronor SOLO or DUO), and a cable to connect directly to a camera (for use with Metronor One or SOLO), a holder to attach the battery to the camera tripod as well as a charger. Compatible with all current Metronor systems except when running a TrackScan unit.

Extended Probe kit (116204)
To reach deeply recessed features or points that are very hard to reach, the extended probe kit provides longer stand-off distances. Note that mechanical stability decreases with longer probes – a special Lightpen such as the CLP81500 will yield better accuracy for very long off-sets.

Extra Lightpens
If you require a smaller Lightpen that can be used at a short range in confined areas (e.g. inside tubes, gear boxes and compressors), LP53, LP55 and other small Lightpens are available.

Contact us for more information about Metronor Lightpens and our experts’ team will let you know which one is the perfect match to your application needs.
