Metronor DUO Split

Imagine a portable measurement system that can either be used as two totally independent one-camera systems, or one very high-accuracy two-camera system. That is Metronor DUO Split, Metronor’s most versatile portable metrology system.

With this extension to the Metronor DUO Probe system, you can extend your systems capabilities to the maximum.

What you can do with this system

For normal tasks, the two SOLOs provide high measurement capacity. When particularly challenging or tight-tolerance inspection is required, a DUO operation ensures that all requirements are met.

One important feature of our portable probing systems is that they are operated through a wireless connection – the Metronor Lightpen offers many advantages in regard to probing capabilities and handling.

  • Get high-end measuring capability anywhere in the production process
  • Handheld probe to provides CMM capability – measure holes, slots and edges as well as surfaces.
  • Perform a GD&T analysis – or compare to CAD in real-time.
  • Efficiently align objects in position and orientation (6 DOF), for example in tool building or jig-less assembly
  • Track multiple targets relative to each other
  • Determine the deformation of structures
  • Unique capabilities like SwitchMode
  • Large volume capability
  • Operator friendly: probing without beams, wires or arms
  • Fast and easy set-up and handling
  • Extremely easy to learn how to operate
  • No warm-up or initialization
  • Excellent for planarity, parallelism, flatness and aligning shafts and planes
  • Extended probing capabilities including recessed details and hidden features (450mm plus probe length)

Applications in DUO mode

  • Jig-less tooling
  • Reverse engineering
  • Prototyping
  • As-built documentation
  • Tool and die inspection
  • In-process inspection
  • On-machine inspection
  • Fixture inspection
  • Deformation analysis
  • Large assembly measurement
  • Assembly alignment – in position and orientation
  • Excess material verification in casting/forging
  • On-machine alignment of parts for milling/ machining
  • Process repeatability verification
  • Root cause analysis – check tool, parts, variation and interference in single session
  • Tool building
  • Tool certification

Applications in Split mode

  • Prototyping
  • Tool and die inspection
  • Tube & pipe measurement
  • In-process inspection
  • On-machine inspection
  • Fixture inspection
  • As built documentation
  • Large assembly measurement
  • Assembly alignment
  • Excess material verification in casting/forging
  • On-machine alignment of parts for milling/machining
  • Tool building
  • Reverse engineering

Extra Options:

Other interesting options to consider if you’d like to extend your system’s applications:

  • Camera Battery Kit (114856) – measure without mains power
  • Extended Probe Kit (116204) – measure very deeply recessed areas or very hard-to-get-to details
  • LP53, LP55 and other small Lightpens for easier measurement in confined areas

Camera Battery Kit (114834)
Provides camera power for up to 10 hours, enabling system operation without mains power – practical where mains is not available, or to reposition the system even faster. Includes a 44Wh Li-Ion battery (115150), a cable to connect the battery to an interface unit IU2 (for use with Metronor SOLO or DUO), and a cable to connect directly to a camera (for use with Metronor One or SOLO), a holder to attach the battery to the camera tripod as well as a charger. Compatible with all current Metronor systems except when running a TrackScan unit.

Extended Probe kit (116204)
To reach deeply recessed features or points that are very hard to reach, the extended probe kit provides longer stand-off distances. Note that mechanical stability decreases with longer probes – a special Lightpen such as the CLP81500 will yield better accuracy for very long off-sets.

Extra Lightpens
If you require a smaller Lightpen that can be used at a short range in confined areas (e.g. inside tubes, gear boxes and compressors), LP53, LP55 and other small Lightpens are available.

Contact us for more information about Metronor Lightpens and our experts’ team will let you know which one is the perfect match to your application needs.
