Freedom of Measurement in Large Volumes

Adding cameras to a Metronor DUO system improves freedom of movement during measurement and increases measurement accuracy.

By positioning cameras around the object and freely pairing any two or more of them – in the same coordinate system – the operator can complete all measurements in a single session, without ever worrying about camera or object repositioning. Regardless of the object shape.

When using more than two cameras for any given measurement, both accuracy and repeatability are improved – even beyond Metronor DUO levels.

The MultiCam Solution

Measuring with more than two cameras at the same time allows you to move around your object freely, taking measurements as necessary both with the M-Scan 120 and with any Lightpen probing unit. All in one go.

With the MultiCam functionality you can add more cameras into an existing  Metronor DUO set-up and create multiple pairings, measuring with any two cameras or any combination of two or more cameras at the same time. For example, with a 4-camera system you can set up two horizontal and two vertical DUO pairs and/or one overall 4-camera network, where all 4 cameras measure the visible handheld sensor at the same time. Or two diagonal pairs, or 4 different 3-camera networks – whatever combination suits your task best.

At any time, it is possible to add more cameras to your system, which makes a further extension to 5, 6 ormore cameras an option for any future projects.

Scan and probe large volumes while moving freely around your object without the need for stickers or leapfrogging with a MultiCam system

MultiCam gives you total freedom and even higher accuracy in larger volumes – still without any target-sticking or part preparation. Find out more about this solution’s specifications here or read about how it’s being used in the automotive industry.

Other Info

Some of the benefits of MultiCam:

  • Extend your measurement area
  • Increase the measurement accuracy
  • Take advantage of a static set-up that takes up less floor space than comparable gantry systems
  • Expand the system according to project needs: add more cameras or a different type of handheld sensor (e.g. optical scanner)

Would you like to test it?

The Metronor DUO system’s Interface Unit may need to be reconfigured with more camera ports – all IU8 devices can be configured to support up to 6 cameras. Then add a software license, the number of cameras you want including cables and mounting hardware. Additional operator training is normally not needed.
